I had a successful career and an exciting, beauEtiful journey in fashion for decades. Fashion is something that I will always enjoy and it will always inspire me but when I was turning 50 years old towards the end of 2019 I had a dark night of the soul which led me to undertake a spiritual search of who I was, what I was doing with my life and what was important and meaningful to me.

I realized I was unhappy with what my personal life and my business life had become. I was no longer feeling fulfilment or more importantly a sense of joy in life. It became clear that I had to change my life path but it took time to figure out how to do it.

The first big step was to become a vegan. I’ve always been an animal lover and currently I have 5 dogs but when I saw the film “The Game Changers” it really opened my eyes. It had a profound effect on me and I realized I needed to stop eating meat or using anything that exploits animals in any way. Since I adopted a vegan lifestyle I have been feeling much fitter and lighter both physically and mentally; I am a happier person and I feel so much better about myself, as if a weight had been lifted off my back. I had found new purpose and meaning in my life.

The second big step was to change my career. I came up with ideas of what I could do but to put them into practice wasn’t easy. It took a while to make major decisions but when I set my mind to it, everything started to fall into place.

Dance has always played an important role in my life. It has been my safety net, my escape that helped me to find peace of mind and maintain my mental health. So I was searching for something to study that is related to it. That’s how I found an E.T.M. (Exercise To Music) course. It was a very thorough training experience, giving an understanding of human physiology, the benefits and techniques of exercise, creating classes and running a business as a group exercise instructor. When I completed the course I felt I needed something more that could give me further ideas to design a more complete training style. That’s how Zumba came into the picture. Zumba is based on Latin dance – nothing could be more suitable for me (Sachi is from Argentina). I got my qualification and I was fully prepared to start a new career as an instructor. But me being me, and being a businesswoman for so long I didn’t just want to teach someone else’s ideas. I wanted to create my own dance and exercise programme, set up my own brand, grow my own business… That’s how I became the creator of the Boomba Workout!

Boomba is a choreography class. A combination of feel-good dance, body conditioning with L.B.T. – Legs, Bums and Tums exercises – stretching and a three-minute floor relaxation with guided meditation. The class is 60 minutes long and gives you an all-around workout without you realizing it. Basically this is my goal with Boomba: having a good time while achieving good fitness. I am very pleased with the results and feedback has been great.

My classes started to be very popular when the pandemic overtook us all in March and we were forced into lockdown. I managed to maintain momentum by taking my classes online but it has been challenging for me and for my growing business. Even though things slowed down a bit, thanks to my workout I kept up my mental health and my overall well-being. And now quarantine is almost over and I am so proud to say that I couldn’t be happier at the age of 50. I’m grateful that the universe has allowed me to make decisions about what path to take in my life and managed to change my career at a pivotal time. I feel motivated and inspired every single day and I’m here to encourage others with my own story and with my exercise method. Dancing and keeping ourselves fit with a good diet is the recipe for having an amazing life full of joy and pure well-being.
